'Happiness' in under 18 minutes

Happiness is an unsolved mystery. The more we want it, the more it runs away. If we take some of the latest neuroscientific ideas about how we respond to emotional stressors, how the thinking brain holds the spotlight of our attention, how autobiographical memory gives us a sense of 'self' and - most importantly - how synaptic activity within cortical-subcortical structures is changed by chronic stress and depression, we come one step closer to unravelling its secrets.
